52 Hours in Hong Kong: Ice Cream Warfare, VHS Time Warps and One Last Ferry
Stop 8 on a 9 city post Covid tour of southern China.
I’ve been to Hong Kong a dozen times.
But this one hit different.
Stop 8 of the China sprint. My body’s done.
Brain buffer spinning. Spiritually horizontal. 🧠🔋
But I already made the tour poster, so I have to finish.

Act 1: Dairy-Based Survival Instincts
🚶♂️Tsim Sha Tsui → First stop: Mobile Softee.
One cone, vanilla, no shame. 🍦
Cream hits my bloodstream like a factory reset.
I feel… nothing. And that’s progress.
—
Act 2: Hallucinations in Christmas Cosplay
🎄1881 Heritage out here looking like Versailles sponsored by Gucci.
Fake snow. Gold trim. Christmas fever in 70-degree weather.
Pose. Smile. Crisis. 📷✨
—
Act 3: Sweet Sauce Revival + Sesame Enlightenment
🧋Hit a cha chaan teng for iced milk tea and baked pork chop rice — elite.
Then grabbed peanut cheung fun:
Sticky noodle tubes in peanut drag.
Sesame. Syrup. Dignity = optional. 🍮💅
I inhale it like I’ve never eaten before.
Reborn. 🧬
—
Act 4: Skyline Depression Therapy
I rise up.
Victoria Harbour view. 🌁
Clouds slicing the sun like a K-drama finale.
Couple next to me fights in soft Cantonese.
Art imitates life. 🛳️💨
—
Act 5: Bar Mode + Midnight Fishball Diplomacy
🍺 Linked with a friend.
Laughed like we weren’t dying inside.
Then street food therapy: curry fishballs, fried sausage, oily coma sticks. 🍢🔥
I eat like a man about to enter witness protection.
We board the Star Ferry.
The skyline behind me.
My sanity? Somewhere in the harbor. 🌊💫

Final Verdict: Hong Kong gave me:
• Whipped cream CPR + capitalist Christmas 🎄🍦
• Milk tea gospel + peanut noodle cosplay 🧋🍮
• Skyline therapy I didn’t ask for 🌁🧠
• Bootleg nostalgia + ferry-based healing 📼🛳️
• Just enough serotonin to crawl to the finale 🧃🍢😵
